Valeo Foods has acquired Balconi, a leading Italian food producer that specialises in the production of sponge based cake products, wafers and biscuits. Balconi supplies the Italian market, and other major international markets including Spain, France, Germany, and the UK.
Based in Northern Italy, Balconi is a very well known and iconic Italian food brand with a wide range and snacks and deserts for every occasion.
The integration of Balconi is consistent with Valeo Foods’ strategy for growth and plans to expand its European operations as it offers an extensive European distribution network.
Commenting on the acquisition, Seamus Kearney, CEO of Valeo Foods said:
“Balconi is a great business, with market leading products, and this development is consistent with Valeo Foods’ international ambitions and our desire to expand our European operations.”
“We look forward to working with management, to build on their success to date, and to continuing to grow the business.”
This deal follows Valeo Foods’ acquisition of the leading honey producer in the UK, Rowse, last year and the acquisition of Robert Roberts, Kelkin and Findlater Wine & Spirit Group earlier this year.
Valeo Foods will now employ approximately 1,000 people across all its businesses, including Balconi.
